Chanting

Prior to March 2020, I had seldom chanted. On the few occasions I participated at the temple at the International Centre, I was not even able to follow what was happening. The repetitions confused me and I was very uncomfortable. Yet over the last months I have progressed: perhaps not 1% per day. More like 5%.

I am now chanting 3 or occasionally 4 times each week. I’m sure it would sound strange if anyone could hear me! The warmth and circulation are still surprising to me.

Following the example of more experienced chanters I am sometimes able to kneel through the shorter chants. I am certain that this means that my spine is stronger and more in alignment. This strength and alignment have carried over into the set.

The worst of times has been the best of times in many ways.
