Virtual meetings help me stay socially active, they help me break through the isolation. Even though I don’t speak, I have the opportunity to see others. Listening to their stories and teachings helps me to feel better by offering me comfort. It brings a sense of relief and joy.

World Stroke Day
14 years ago I had 9 strokes. I couldn’t stand, walk, talk, see or eat. I had to start all over again. My Taoist Tai Chi® practice has helped me to build balance and strength, to lose fear and to do all the functions of life. It has given me my life back!

Goon Yam Festival
Today participants of Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism around the world chanted to pay respect to Goon Yam (Guanyin), the bodhisattva of compassion. Goon Yam inspires the cultivation of compassion. Celebrating her through chanting, our intention is to bring more peace and harmony to the world.
Breast Cancer Awareness
I’ve had breast cancer twice; once before I began practicing Taoist Tai Chi® arts and once after. The first time, I had difficulty with tightness and scarring, which made it difficult to move. When my cancer came back the second time, my recovery was much quicker because practicing the Taoist Tai Chi® arts kept me supple and limber. It continues to make me feel strong, vital, alive and capable. ~ Mary
Music and Jongs
I am a professional musician and Taoist Tai Chi® practice keeps me in shape physically. It helps me not get injured, keeps me elastic, and somehow keeps my body working even if I’m nervous. The hand movements are particularly good for my playing. This is all very important for me. ~Oren
Double Ninth Festival
On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, participants of Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism chanted the Scripture of Filial Piety to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival. Chanting expresses our intention to pay our respects to our elders and to our ancestors, and our wish for everlasting harmony.
Helps with stress, better sleep.
I had high stress, high anxiety, lots of pain, and very poor sleep. I was a mess and my lifestyle was not healthy. Almost by chance I tried out a Taoist Tai ChiⓇ arts class. I noticed very soon after that my anxiety was more manageable and my pain started to go away so I could sleep better. I’ve never looked back!

Forever Young
I am 89 years old. For me, Taoist Tai Chi® arts are a moving meditation that provide me everything I need to feel good. I can do this for myself! When I practice opening the chest and extending the spine, I like to feel what is going on inside my body. The feeling is very important to me and it is one of the things I value in my practice. Meditation then completes the harmony of body, mind and spirit.
My thanks to Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism.

Our Private Practice
Feet planted.
Body grounded.
A starting point.
The stuff we carry around mentally, spiritually, physically.
We become our own teachers.
Trust, responsibility, letting go.
Learning on a different level.
Just be in the practice.
Step back from worry about what comes next.
Be comfortable, listen to our own bodies.
Move, trust, feel it deep inside.
Using our practice.
Helps us support others.
Mentally, spiritually and physically.
No fixed plan.
Be reflective, let go arriving.
It’s the journey, not the destination.
Let it be.
Chanting, calm, soft, focussed.
Everything slows down.
Stillness, calmness.
Mind emptied, we think of nothing else.
We thought control kept us safe.
It kept us bound.
We learn to accept change.

Engaging in Taoist Tai Chi® arts leads to a feeling of internal stillness balanced with an outward expansion. Irrespective of one’s age, there is a progressively deeper connection to life, to the people and activities in one’s life, to feelings of strength and agency, to becoming the artist of one’s life.
