The Dragon's Head Blog: Expanding in Body and Mind

Participants from 13 countries gathered at the Taoist Tai Chi retreat in the Southern European Center in Madrid.

Although the days are getting shorter and darker here in December the hall was warm and colourful vibrating with the energy and joy from all the participants sharing Mr Moy’s teachings about the Tao.

After the first set we shared what we worked on and how we felt to provide a reference for this week’s journey of change.

We were reminded of the  importance of the open hands and how the open hands help to open the mind, enabling change.

Using some of the first moves of the set we worked on the expansion and contraction. And seeing clearly how there is much more expansion to be found if we take our time and finish the expansion in all dimensions.

The weekly zoom sessions provided a common ground for all the practitioners, making it possible to work seamlessly together no matter where we come from.

We worked on “no arms”, using the ground force and coiling as ongoing principles throughout every move.

Sharing was lively and many went to the microphone to talk about their experiences and this helped others to understand better.

The tasks also reminded us how Mr Moy’s teachings can be practiced in all that we do. We worked together in harmony which reflected in our movements as well.

We are grateful to the board of the Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi for making this opportunity available and providing insights that allow us to go deeper.
