The Dragon's Head Blog: Tampa Bay Area Holiday Party in Tampa, Florida
The Tampa Bay, Florida branches came together on December 10th, for their first joint holiday party. Over 170 participants from Dunedin, Brandon, St Petersburg, Temple Terrace and Sarasota met at the historic Centro Asturiano de Tampa, a recently renovated 1902 Spanish social club. In keeping with the Spanish theme, participants were treated to a performance of a trio of flamenco dancers, followed by a Spanish dinner, dessert and coffee de leche. A silent auction added to the fun which helped raise money for the Taoist Tai Chi Society. Auction items were donated from all branches and locations. One of our external classes is held at a dance studio and some dance instructors came with students to help us celebrate. So after dinner a DJ provided us with non-stop music. It was fun to see everyone on the dance floor. One of our participants commented Did I just get off a cruise ship? as professional dancers floated by doing the waltz. Leaders from the area agreed that this was a huge success and will become an annual event.
Pegoty Packman, President of Taoist Tai Chi USA said, «Master Moy would have loved it … coming together.»
«This wonderful event was a great example of the strength of our combined resources», said Mary Crossfield, Leader of the Brandon, Florida branch and member of the National Board of Directors.
