The Dragon's Head Blog: Chinese New Year Celebration in Canada’s Atlantic Region

A busy weekend at the Atlantic Regional Centre began with a day-long program and culminated with a splendid Chinese New Year banquet.

A cocktail hour with wine and hors d’oeuvres was lively, filling the room with laughter and talk as members mingled with guests and invited dignitaries. A couple of talented members entertained us, Maritime style, with songs accompanied by a variety of stringed instruments: a guitar, a mandolin, a dulcimer, filling the room with sweet, harmonious music. For the meal, course after course delighted more than 100 members, their guests, and invited dignitaries, whose speeches expressed their respect and appreciation for our organisation.

The following day, we opened the doors of our Regional Centre as part of Interfaith Harmony Week, an opportunity for more cultural exchange. A number of visitors joined us in chanting the Northern Dipper sutra, some Taoist Tai Chi ™ practice and, again, a beautiful and plentiful meal.
